Frédéric Sanchez
Sound Designer, Frédéric Sanchez Studio
The minimalist DJ debuted with a custom mix for the Maison Martin Margiela runway and has since worked for Prada and Marc Jacobs.

Sanchez’s career began at suitably lofty heights, mixing a soundtrack, or rather ‘oral tableau’ for designer Martin Margiela for the Maison Martin Margiela show in 1988. Today, Sanchez boasts an international roster of brands in his portfolio, having aritected sound installations for Paris, London and New York-based runway shows for brands such as Hermès, Prada, Valentino, Balmain, Chloé, Victoria Bekham, Marc Jacobs , Alexander Wang , Miu Miu and more. The sound artist finds himself most sonically inspired by the late 1900s, incorporating vintage hip-hop and jazz sounds into his mixes.
Sanchez was commissioned by Miuccia Prada to create an installation for the brand's flagship in Tokyo. Sanchez created a ‘sound shower’ with Herzog & de Meuron, some of his many artistic collaborators; others include Louise Bourgeois, Larry Clark and Jack Pierson. Alongside the fashion world, Sanchez has also create sound pieces for galleries, museums and other public areas.
Sanchez has also collaborated with the Gainsbourg family, to curate "Gainsbourg 2008," a reflective of Serge Gainsbourg exhibited at Paris’ Cité de la Musique. In recent years Sanchez has started directing films of his own, embarking on his independent film project, Le Soldat Sans Visage, in 2010.
Sanchez revived ‘90s nostalgia performing a set for Prada’s Cruise show in New York upon Miuccia’s request continuing their partnership that harks back to that decade. He was also commissioned to create a video project, exhibited at the Sonia Rykiel Autumn/Winter 2018/19 Pret-a-porter fashion show in Paris.
