Lesleigh Jermanus

Co-Founder & Creative Director, Alemais

The Australian co-founder of Alemais has built a globally recognised brand defined by vintage-inspired silhouettes, voluminous forms and sustainable craftsmanship.

Lesleigh Jermanus

Lesleigh Jermanus is the founder and creative director of Alemais, one of Australia’s most talked-about fashion labels redefining accessible luxury with an emphasis on sustainability, and global craftsmanship.

Launched in 2021, Jermanus has positioned Alemais as an alternative to popular resortwear brands like Aje and Zimmermann. With a background in textile design and a deep respect for artisanal techniques, Jermanus centred the brand on low-impact materials and collaborations with craftspeople from around the world. Her signature is voluminous, vintage-inspired silhouettes updated with painterly prints, hand-finished detailing that promote a sense of adventure. For example, in 2025, the brand showed a Marrakech collection, which brought in a number of international press and buyers.

Alemais’s expansion has been rapid: it is now stocked in over 425 stores across 54 countries including Browns, Liberty, Le Bon Marché, Printemps, Saks, Neiman Marcus, Selfridges and Net-a-Porter. The brand also earned a blockbuster spot in HBO Show “The White Lotus.”

In 2024, Jermanus was named designer of the year at the Australian Fashion Laureate Awards.

Since inception, Alémais has planted over half a million trees. In 2025, the brand announced the Alémais Forest Project, which saw the funding, protection and restoration of 12 hectares in the UNESCO World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest.
